The Best of Yellowstone

The Best of Yellowstone

Dates: Departs weekly. Departure time at 7:00 AM all months except June & July when departure time is 6:00 AM.


This extraordinary trip focuses on the dramatic qualities that influenced the decision to make Yellowstone the world's first national park. These qualities include the park's spectacular wildlife, the most famous geysers in the world, and never-ending scenery. A Yellowstone trip will always vary to account for wildlife sightings and group interests, but stops typically include Old Faithful, the colorful waterfalls of Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and the wildlife of Hayden Valley. Lunch is included and is often taken near Old Faithful. Trips to Yellowstone generally return between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. Private Yellowstone trips are available. Yellowstone remains open through the first week of November.

This trip is a full day excursion into Grand Teton National Park, allowing more time than a Dawn or Dusk Safari to explore more of the park. This trip is arguably our guide's favorite trip to lead guests on.

Nature Hike

Accompany a Spring Creek Ranch's naturalist on a morning or afternoon nature walk here on East Gros Ventre Butte (Spring Creek Ranch Property) from May through October. This two-mile hike will be easy walking and take about two hours. We will bring binoculars and field guides and learn about the plants and animals that inhabit the wildlife preserve on which Spring Creek Ranch is located. Also enjoy expansive views of Jackson Hole, the Gros Ventre and Teton Mountain Ranges from atop the Spring Creek Ranch Property. This is a perfect family activity!

Join an experienced naturalist in learning about and searching for the most charismatic predators in North America in the most famous National Park in the world, Yellowstone. This is the best place and the best time of year to see wolves and bears and we have an extremely high success rate in finding them. Spring is an ideal time to see wolves as they are very active trying to procure food for their young pups. Bears are just emerging from their winter dens to take advantage of the spring forage both flora and fauna. Since the park receives few visitors and predators and their prey are very active this is an ideal time to view these amazing animals. We explore most regions of Yellowstone during this safari and spend two full days searching and viewing wild black bears, grizzly bears, and gray wolves along with many other aspects of Yellowstone's natural splendor. The Spring Creek Ranch Naturalist Department teams up with Wyoming Stargazing's Dr. Samuel Singer and his team of knowledgable astronomers along with their collection of large telescopes and other sky viewing equipment for an extraordinary night of exploring the night sky!


The dark skies at Spring Creek Ranch provide an ideal location to view galaxies, star clusters, planets, and even the arms of our own Milky Way Galaxy. If youre lucky youll also see shooting stars, sun spires, and the northern lights. Dr. Singer will answer all of your questions concerning constellations, star formation, galaxy collisions, the origin of our universe, and more. He will also introduce you to the latest astronomy software available on your smartphone so you can continue exploring the night sky on your own. We're looking forward to seeing you out there.
