Join an experienced naturalist to learn about and search for the most charismatic wildlife in North America in the most famous National Park in the world, Yellowstone.

This is the best place in the world to see wolves and bears. While wildlife are always unpredictable, we often have success in finding them for you. Spring/early summer and Fall are usually ideal times to see wolves as they are very active trying to procure food for their young pups and teach them to survive on their own. In the Spring and early summer, bears are taking advantage of the new forage of both flora and fauna for their newborn cubs after having recently emerged from their winter dens.

These magnificent species and their prey can be very active and visible, and these are ideal seasons to view them and experience Nature at its finest. We explore several important regions of Yellowstone during this safari and spend two full days searching and viewing wild black bears, grizzly bears, gray wolves, elk, and other species along with many other aspects of Yellowstone’s natural splendor.

Your experienced Naturalist will guide you through Yellowstone National Park and, depending on your interests, Grand Teton National Park along the way. We will provide insight around every corner that will enrich your appreciation of the natural world around you. You will journey through the most select landmarks and vistas of the parks and search for predators in Yellowstone’s famous Hayden and Lamar valleys.

** Please note that new National Park Service regulations apply to all non-U.S. residents entering Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks:

• Non-U.S. residents 16-years and older may purchase an annual pass for $250, which allows entry for the pass holder and up to three additional guests in the same vehicle. If an annual pass is not purchased, each non-U.S. resident 16-years and older will be required to pay a per-person entrance fee of $20 plus an additional $100 nonresident fee, collected upon entry to the national park.

• However, for non- U.S. resident guests at Spring Creek, Spring Creek Ranch will cost-share this expense.

• • Spring Creek Ranch will pay the equivalent amount in National Park entrance fees that the National Parks would normally charge U.S. residents, and the remainder will be billed to the non-U.S. resident guests’ room.

• • For example, for the $250 non-U.S. resident pass, Spring Creek Ranch will pay for the pass at the entrance gate. For billing, Spring Creek Ranch will be responsible for what the National Parks would normally charge a U.S. resident for the same pass, which is $80, and the remaining $170 would be billed to the guests’ room. 

• We recommend reviewing these options in advance to determine the best choice for your group.

Sample Itinerary

*All Yellowstone wolf and bear safaris are individually curated based on guests’ interests. Duration, routes, accommodation, food, etc. may vary and could depend on availability, season, area and road closures, etc. 

Day 1

After arriving in Jackson via air or ground transportation, join our Resident Naturalist in the Ranch House for a welcome reception and presentation about the predators and history of Yellowstone.

Day 2

Depart for an overnight trip of Yellowstone exploration! Leaving Spring Creek Ranch around 6-7 am. Enjoy a safari through Grand Teton National Park to the south gate of Yellowstone. Continue the trek north towards Lamar, hugging the shores of Yellowstone Lake and stopping at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone along the way. You will be traveling in a comfortable vehicle that is ideal for wildlife watching, with access to snacks, drinks, and rest stops. Dusk will be spent in Lamar Valley, where we will search for the wolves, bears, and other megafauna that famously inhabit this area. These predators are most active during dusk and dawn, which is why we’ll be searching most attentively at these times. After night falls, we will drive to our comfortable accommodations in Cooke City or Silvergate, MT for an enjoyable dinner and restful night just outside of Yellowstone’s border.

Day 3

Following an early continental breakfast we will travel once again to Lamar Valley, positioning ourselves in this rich area of activity during the first light of day. We will continue our focus here until lunch, when we will refuel with a hearty restaurant meal. Our journey will continue through the remainder of Yellowstone’s grandeur, with stops along the way. Depending on guests’ interests and what we see along the way, will aim to be back at Spring Creek Ranch by around 6:30 – 7:00 pm.
