Eagles Soar

Eagles Soar - Spring Creek Ranch, Jackson Hole, WY
Today was a great day for viewing eagles. On this morning’s safari we saw at least 30 bald eagles, mostly adults with a few young eagles seen as well. One of the highlights was seeing a golden eagle dive on a pond filled with ducks. Soon after we actually saw two golden eagles mating, which is a behavior that I have never observed before.

This month both species of eagles are forming pair bonds, seeking prime nesting sites and courting females. Other interesting sightings from this morning included a small flock of horned larks, several species of waterfowl, three coyotes, massive bighorn sheep rams, bison and a lone moose.
