horseback riding Jackson Hole

There’s an old song from the 80s, “I Wanna Be a Cowboy,” by the band Boys Don’t Cry. Simple pop song, a little Eurobeat behind it. But the message in that song is exactly why people come to Jackson Hole. We call it the cowboy mystique, or cowgirl, depending. And here’s the inside scoop on horseback riding in Jackson Hole: you can do it! Easily!

At Spring Creek Ranch we offer saddles and paddles, with packages that include guided trail rides, dinner horseback rides or a combo trail-ride-and-white-water-paddle expedition.

Trail Rides

Spring Creek Ranch stables supplies well-trained and gentled horses for your riding pleasure. Once in the saddle you’ll marvel at valley views as far as the eye can see, from the Teton peaks on the west side to the aerial views of Jackson proper on the east. Children are welcome along with adults regardless of size or ability (though those under five years old can stay behind to enjoy Moe the Pony). Just be sure you’ve got suitable pants, closed-toe shoes and can be stableside twenty minutes beforehand to get saddled up.

Dinner Horseback Rides

Looking for a unique Wyoming experience? Try living like Jackson’s first settlers with one of our lazy dinner rides. Spring Creek Ranch stables will get you saddled up, then head out for a late afternoon, one-hour ride, followed by a hearty western meal once the horses are corralled. All ages are welcome, and you’ll head to bed with visions of the Tetons at sunset. What could be better than that?

And if you’re feeling particularly skittish, you can skip the trail ride and sign up simply for the outdoor dinner under the stars. The horses don’t care.
